The making of
Long-time collaborators of mine, Sherpas Cinema productions are always beautiful pieces that display both the awesome grandeur of our planet and the indomitable human spirit.
This particular film is a call-to-action/awareness piece that shines light on the plight of Sherpa communities living around Mt. Everest. They are all but stuck in a vicious loop of poverty; left with no other choice but to become porters for tourists climbing up and down the mountain.
One such porter, named Apa Sherpa, has created a non-profit to help educate children and this film is his life’s story.
It is one of my favorite scores to date and I think it’s one of the more successful artistic ventures of which I’ve been involved. Erhu violin features heavily, along with violin and cello, balanced with a chamber string ensemble, acoustic/electric guitars and drums.
